  1. I conversed with David online last year and purchased a large EQ platform from him. Superb craftsman and a pleasure to do business with. RIPπŸ™.

    Hello Again!

    Welcome back Mike πŸ‘‹.
  3. Solid cloud cover here in Oxford. Can’t complain as Tuesday and Wednesday were clear albeit with poor seeing and transparency.
  4. Hi πŸ‘‹, welcome to SGL.
  5. Hi, welcome to SGL πŸ‘‹.
  6. Nice animation Geof. I abandoned my Tuesday session due to the wind on my new dobsonian. Once I have come to grips with the processing properly I’ll need to try a few animations.
  7. Out again tonight for my first real session with my new dob. Captured a load of SER files of Jupiter. I then had a good 2 hours visual observing. It sure is cold though.
  8. Hi Paul πŸ‘‹, welcome to SGL.
  9. Hi πŸ‘‹, welcome to SGL.
  10. That's strange. As long as you have a phone working with the app that's the main thing. In saying that I have found my cheap Blackview to be more accurate with the Starsense app which is also strange.
  11. If it's the same as the Stella Lyra dobsonian then you only need the extension for your 2" eyepieces. The Stella Lyra doesn't come with a 1.25" extension only a 2". I found focus easy to reach with all my 1.25" eyepieces.
  12. Lovely animation πŸ‘. I had to abandon my planetary imaging session due to my new 10" dobsonian buffetting in the wind. Impossible to keep it in the ROI or focus properly.
  13. If it's a Skywatcher dobsonian then yes you must use the 1.25" extension to reach focus.
  14. Another dismal night trying to image Jupiter with the 10” dob. Not a chance, the wind was gusting badly bouncing Jupiter clean off my screen. My dodgy electric focuser packed in again so I removed it on site. Swapped the camera for the eyepiece and caught my first M42 since its reappearance in the sky. I removed the dew shield to try and help with the wind but it was still pretty bad. I actually prefer M42 with a UHC filter so that was next. Finished off with a sweep over Auriga and Gemini, also M45, Hyades. Now frozen to the bone and headed back inside.
  15. Also great for getting those pesky planets on the sensor. Saves time.
  16. The Starsense app works on two of my Android phones one of which is the Pixel 6 pro the other a cheaper Blackview which I bought solely for the Starsense app. It also works on my iPhone though I never use it for that as it's my main phone for everything else.
  17. Wow! I actually woke up to clear blue skies. I thought I was still dreaming πŸ™‚.
  18. Fingers crossed 🀞 that everything goes as forecast.
  19. I bought this one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BC8MSPJ9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I used it with a white T shirt over the objective and the pad on top of it. It worked well each time I used it with my 102 frac. HTH.
  20. I also agree that an electronic focuser is not required. However I did find that a simple electric focuser was of great benefit when trying to achieve sharp focus with an 8SE due to the mount causing vibrations when focusing. Your 6SE being lighter may not require this.
  21. Thanks for that. I knew that it could affect visual observing and presumed that this would be amplified in DSO imaging. I stand corrected.
  22. Nice image πŸ‘. I'm itching to get some clear skies 🀞.
  23. I am in the same boat as yourself. I purchased a new 250 go to dobsonian and a Vixen ED102 and still haven't used either of them. The weather has been atrocious this past month as you say. It will be that much sweeter when we do eventually get to use them.
