  1. The Synscan app doesn't connect either. I also can't see the Synscan WiFi anymore!
  2. The driver updater said that the prolific driver is up to date?
  3. I can't get my go to dobsonian to slew with ASCOM which is due to the ASCOM driver being for V3/4 handsets. Is there any solution for this yet? I read an old thread discussing this very thing from 2021 and it doesn't appear that there's a work around yet and no new driver for the V5 handset. Would an EQMOD serial cable work with Alt/Az ?.
  4. Double click on the image and set the green box to the size of your image and click okay.
  5. Have you checked the collimation recently?
  6. I am a great fan of the Baader clicklock systems and fit them all the time. I have had no problems with them collimating my reflectors and SCT's. The added security also gives me peace of mind.
  7. That’s a camera for daytime use with a spotting scope. I can’t see the specs for it but I highly doubt it would compete with an astro camera.
  8. The scope arrived safely today courtesy of @Franklin’s excellent packaging and padding. I’m literally astounded by the unbelievable condition of the scope. I can easily tell that its been treated with love over its lifespan. Optics also are spotless . Now just need the clouds to disperse. Thanks Tim for an excellent scope and a pleasant transaction.
  9. Binoculars won't be any good for the planets as they are simply too small to be seen properly at that low of a magnification. The Seestar while being a good introduction to astrophotography is also not suitable for the planets due to both its aperture and focal length. I rekindled my astronomy journey also with a 127 Maksutov go to many years ago, and I was extremely happy with it as an only scope for over a year. The go to is invaluable if you don't know your way around the sky and is a massive time saver. Regarding their relatively small FOV also didn't bother me as I found more than enough targets to keep me occupied throughout that time. I have a pair of high resolution binoculars which are 15x70 and Saturn through them looks like a tiny disc with ears.
  10. How do you reduce the ROI with an AIR? They haven't got this function.
  11. Beware of cheap Amazon cables. There has been more than one mount damaged by them.
  12. I always collimated my dobsonian scopes at a 45° angle to try and compensate for any small mirror movement. Then again I have never actually owned an OO dob
  13. I have owned both SCT’s and Maksutov scopes and preferred my 150mm Skywatcher Maksutov over an 8SE. The Mak is optically sharper and provided better views imo. The downside is the long cool down time.
  14. My 300mm reflector only suffered from weak primary springs. Once replaced with heavier springs I had no more loss of collimation whilst traversing the sky. Cheap and very beneficial upgrade.
  15. Another 👍 for the Skywatcher 127 on the go to mount. Target acquisition can be tricky with Maksutov scopes due to the smaller FOV. Tracking is another major plus at long focal lengths.
  16. Any chance of a heads up when we can get some clear skies 🤣.

    Hi to all

    Hi Angel👋. Welcome to SGL.
  18. Yes the black ring is a reducer for using 1.25” filters etc. Unscrew it and your T adapter will screw directly into the camera.
  19. No. I have owned both and can't notice any discernable difference between them.
  20. Hi Barbara 👋. A warm welcome to SGL.
  21. That's most definitely a bad case of fungus IMO. Personally I would just bin it and put it down to experience. That's one of the pitfalls of buying old eyepieces from someone you don't know (especially on eBay).
  22. Your 6SE will provide you with good views of the planets, moon and some star clusters etc.I used to own a 8SE and I also found that the mount was marginal at best with a lot of vibration while focusing. Don't buy another thing until you learn how to use your telescope and get used to it. The benefits of expensive eyepieces is very small when compared to mid range ones. You already have more than enough equipment. Take your time and start with the easy targets like the moon and planets and get a feel for the telescope. Good luck.
  23. Thanks. I have no intention of selling the scope or any other astro gear, it's just that I haven't even had a look through it yet. One thing I have most definitely learned over the years is patience, and lots of it. When clear skies do arrive we'll all wonder what the fuss was about.
