  1. dog was happy when it saw the rebar going in
  2. when i started i went for a 200p ota and made a dob mount for it. ive never regretted it. so a skywatcher 200p classic dob would be my advice a bit over your budget £379, but they do come up on the forum second hand at decent prices. good hunting.
  3. i would just put blobs of a grab adhesive on it. then straight onto the panels. use an adhesive that will set fast. very fast lol. or you can be standing there for ages holding it in place. or propping it up. i wouldnt bother insulating the floor.
  4. ive spent a lot of time over the years heating boats vans caravans etc, gas is nice heat, but it gives off a lot of moisture, also carbon monoxide. if you use the gas definately fit an alarm first. sounds like an interesting thing to build, good luck with it.
  5. hi stevie welcome to the forum
  6. i remember a time when the economists here were crying in their gin, that the pound was too strong. yip far too strong against the dollar. did we get stuff cheaper, nope. why. pure greed. i think the truth is, chinese stuff is getting as good as anyone elses. they are getting things right. same as the japs did. the chinese manufacturing prices are still far cheaper than anyone else on the planet= more profit to be made. dosnt matter how this is parceled up. quite simply its pure greed on a massive scale.
  7. i dont fully agree, i purchased 1 morph, 2 weeks later i went to order another 1. i know it was the same stock, and same retailer, i was told they went up £30. b/s it was the same stock. just greed. i actually just bought a 4.5 mm last week new stock just in £217. the first case was maybe 7 months ago. first 1 i bought was about £170. it definately isnt all price hikes by baader.
  8. as mike says, not expensive to do , and a huge difference, use an app like sky safari free version for the alt and az numbers and away you go. if not right on the objects you will be very close. clear skies.
  9. i would, and have gone for the morpheus e/ps, so good in fact, that greedy retailers keep putting the price of them up.
  10. hi, i have the 200p f5 ota, it comes with a mounting rail so can be set on a tripod. im not sure what length the dob type 200p is i think it is longer. the 200p ota is 1000mm end to end. i find the 200p a good scope, there is a lot of them around, so that says something for them. hope this helps. paul.
  11. hi peter, welcome to sgl, looking forward to seeing some of your diy astro work. enjoy the hobby.
  12. the morphs are great e/ps i just need the 12 to complete the set. unfortunately most but not all retailers keep putting the price up, because they know we will pay it. nothing to do with baader. just greed.
  13. just received my new baader morpheus 4.5mm e/p from microglobe, ordered it on saturday got it this morning. well done microglobe. well pleased with the price to.
  14. you mean it isnt a woollen blanket. gee, i suppose theres no santa claus either.
  15. great idea. very well thought out. i love diy astronomy. so easy to make something, and at times to improve on it, BUT you gotta see it first. if i was building another set up i like this 1. it would be fun to make and use. as a d.i.y.er i can understand how much time and thought you put into this, patent it lol top marks.
  16. i have the same problem with 2 street lights. i made a small banner that slips onto a pole at each end. i had 2 spare extending paint roller shafts which do the job great. 1 light you wont need anything huge. hope this helps.
  17. thanks, the foam lining is an excersise mat out of lidls cut up to size. it is a deeper red than it looks. the sunshine made it look a bit pink in the pics.
  18. just booked today for the week. pitch 257, hopefully meet you guys there.
  19. great project, well done. i know the amount of manual hard graft it took to complete it. i think its normal to look at things after we do them and think maybe this and maybe that. your jobs well done and a great achievement. it is certainly strong enough. if its just cosmetic issues, sheet it in shiplap or similar. personally it looks great to me . set your scope up and enjoy. thanks for sharing. clear skies.
  20. what is wrong with the thread. if its very loose, no point just retapping it. probably make it worse. if its too tight a tap will clean it up.
  21. i have to give royal mail, parcel force some credit here, ive had stuff from as far away as australia, canada the usa italy etc and never had any problems. as far as other companies go , it might be beneficial when you use them , ask for a prayer mat. if given the choice , i wouldnt let them carry my lunchbox to work for me. worst offender i find is, the 1 that had the name change. i wonder if the new name will improve their service. the old name took 10 days to get a shoebox from glasgow to inverness. if they had of told me i couldve strolled down and picked it up myself. my prayer mat now has holes in it.
  22. i thought about a dual focuser for my 200p , i didnt like the price, so i bought the cheaper auto focuser from flo. it was a great decision, works great, and i dont even touch the scope, so no shakes or vibrations. what a difference.
  23. basically there is 2 metric threads metric fine and course. make sure your using the right 1. quite often, but not always they use a course thread for bolts going into alloy as it gives a better grip in the softer metal.
  24. i got a tap set from, it was either toolstation or screwfix the other week. it was about 16 quid and works fine. should do the job for you. just make sure that tap has been started straight. your tap holder is micky mouse. you could try a small spanner instead, ive done that before. just go slow with it.
