  1. I don’t find the Rigel difficult in use. It does go pretty dim and is variable. The single red dot finders like the vixen or William optics seem to only go down by pre-set clicks from 7-1. Even down to the minimum setting it can be bright enough to hide your target. These are the type I would like to try replacing the output resistor to the LED. I would imagine they are the tiny square type of resistor which can be a fiddle. I tried the baader sky surfer v and just didn’t like it at all. As for the televue, it’s a ton of cash and I’m not convinced of its reliability to hold zero. Maybe some who has one can chip in the information on stability.
  2. I really like using rdf’s on their own. The lowest setting can be sometimes too bright. I think when I get some time I may dismantle one and see what can be done. I’m pretty sure that if a resistor with a higher value is used to replace the original one this could be the answer to getting more usable brightness settings.
  3. I honestly don’t think I will ever have to worry about cleaning a tak. Too much money for me but I do like their hamerite finishes 😆 (sorry tak owners)
  4. And soften the dried dust with some lard first 😂🤣
  5. Yep the extra coverage comes with the extra cost I’m afraid.
  6. I’m pretty sure I’ve got it to 6 now. They cover all my needs.
  7. How many would you like to end up with as your “set”?
  8. That looks really solid. Nothings going to fall out of that.
  9. APM also do a 13, 9, 5, 3.5 oh and now also a 7mm on your journey to ethos 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  10. It is what it is. If you want something you have to pay for it. It’s a very good eyepiece and like everyone keeps saying they will all go up soon enough anyway. Once you look through it everything will make perfect sense. Congratulations on actually finding one 👍
  11. It’s not a problem if you actually climb inside the eyepiece 🤣
  12. They double boxed those scopes after I phoned Ian up about the inadequacy of the packing over a year ago. They only used to be single boxed and the focus knob was right up against the box edge. Quite a few were delivered with a bent focus shaft as was my first one. It’s good to know the fantastic product is now better protected.
  13. Very snug. It’s a relief to get a scope like that in a safe place.
  14. Mines heavy enough for my needs and still manages to take chunks out of my door frames 🤣 I think the main benefit of the az100 is the upgrade ability, they look very impressive.
  15. I wouldn’t worry about the £35, in my opinion they are a lot of telescope for the asking price. Come to think of it I believe they were almost £500 just over a year ago and then the price went down a bit as some were delivered with damage due to insufficient packing/padding. I reckon the price went down to try to regain customer confidence and now the price is back to what it originally was. I would place a bet that they will go up again soon. There are quite a few similar versions of the 102/f7 and are gaining in popularity as very good all rounders.
  16. It sounds the business. Glad I’m very satisfied with my az8 and happy that I’m a manual freak as I thought mine was a hefty price tag 😳
  17. Nice catch. How did you manage to find such a telescope, It’s like trying to find a hen with teeth at the moment? It’s a very fine capable instrument, I have the ed-r and never looked back. You are going to love that telescope congratulations.
  18. Not twins then.. big brother little sister 😁 very similar in design and performance I would imagine. The az100 has a socket/electronics?
  19. You still could be all over that. The next lot coming from China will probably price hike anyway.
  20. Beautiful engineering. I love a nice Manual mount. I’m sure you will love using it. I have the losmandy and they could be twins. I’m not sure either is better than the other as I’ve not seen anyone complaining about them. I know I’ve not looked at anything else since I got mine.
  21. Believe it or not, the stumpy is the heaviest!
  22. This is OCD under full control. Time to stop now. These will “do it” for me 😉
  23. Spot the odd man out.. it’s like one of those spot the difference pictures from the 1970’s.
