  1. Wow... you must be skint now. Very very nice indeed.
  2. Trouble is Alan sometimes these brief moments are not fitting in very well with my shift times. I’m all for quick setting up for an hour or so but lately it’s just not been going my way to be honest. Just have to give priority to my work life or I’d be a zombie 🧟‍♂️ I just kept telling myself “hey, one day soon”. My consolation is I know what’s up there isn’t going anywhere soon- a bit like all of us at the moment 🤣 The main thing for me is that I was lucky enough to get some really good views of mars. Nothing can take that away not even this bloody virus 😉
  3. May as well read. There’s nothing to look at upwards at the moment 🤣
  4. Very nice and a very popular eyepieces.
  5. 😁 I’m just looking for my next fix now I’ve completed my eyepieces.
  6. I keep thinking about one. Would you say there are advantages over the vixens?
  7. We also have separate bank accounts but my card gets used even when it’s not with me. It seems to go for days out all on its own. Clever technology 🙄
  8. It’s is a thing of beauty, don’t scratch it.
  9. Very nice. The last one I really like.
  10. Very nice collection. It’s good to read about these “journeys”, and comforting to know somewhere along the line somebody else can continue their journey with the pieces we move along. Long may it continue, especially as the prices are going up rapidly.
  11. Those two can cover a lot of ground 👍
  12. I’ve tried a lot of eyepieces to get to the sum total of only 6. Here is my journey I’ve been through Es 82’s from 14mm to 4.7mm with the 24/68 as the widest. That’s a real peach. My favourites were the 14 & 8.8. I got the Es 12/92 and this blew me away if I’m honest so got the 17/92 as well followed by the Es 5.5/100. This was my first experience of the heavyweight wide views and in the end I found balance issues were taking the fun out of things. Next I popped in a Delos 8mm then a 14mm which were very pure. I ordered a 4.5 & 3.5 followed by a 6. The 4.5 was too long a wait so o ordered a 4.7 ethos from Germany, replaced the order for the 4.5 with a 10. Once the 4.7 ethos came I liked it so much I went for a 6 & 8 ethos and loved them so much I ordered a 13e. This was definitely the best thing I did as it’s just so good. A panoptic 27mm was used as my widest to go with the ethos, a fantastic eyepiece but didn’t do it for me matched up with the ethos. I changed it for an APM 20/100 and added the 3.7ethos as my high power. My last and final addition was after extensive reading about the nagler 22t4. This seemed to tick all the boxes for me and is a very immersive and comfortable to use 82 degrees which in used is very close to the views from my ethos. Sorry if this has been boring but hopefully it will be of some use to someone... maybe. It’s been expensive but I’ve enjoyed trying them all and learning about their capabilities. I now have a small set of 6 that I believe is future proof for any telescope. Its been a crazy year and this experimentation has kept me sane (ish) 🤪 Dale.
  13. John’s won his bet 👍 he just knew.. a manual reflector and 100 degrees.. no contest.
  14. They are all very good glass. I couldn’t real say I could tell of a field difference between Delos and panoptics if I’m honest. They must be some of the easiest to use. At the moment I’m liking my ethos but I could surely enjoy the Delos without any worries. I definitely found them better than most of the 82 degrees I’ve tried.
  15. I think sometimes we just go looking for faults in views to justify the next purchase/fix. I used to keep trying to find fault at the edges etc when in reality and normal observation I wouldn’t be concentrating on that part of the fov. Now I find I’m only really looking at about 60/70 degrees and that portion is surrounded by a massive field of stars.
  16. Yep... I can see the very camouflaged item.
  17. I’ve only been using an rdf on the frac and I’m really tempted to try the Rigel on it as it’s good for the circles/degrees judging and goes as dim as you like.
  18. Where did you position the Rigel on your refractor?
  19. You are correct John, they are 1.25” eyepieces and with 100 degrees unfortunately comes weight. I don’t think I would want to have my 13E hanging on with just the short length of 1.25” barrel. Tried it once and didn’t like it at all. Probably the 8 & 6 would be fine though. I find comfort with the grip the 2” barrel has. IMO heavy expensive eyepiece need to be secured as best they can.
  20. I think lasers on telescopes in the Uk is shortly followed by a visit from the police helicopter 😂
  21. The 8 ethos is a cracker. It gives me 89x on my 4 inch and 125x on my 8 inch. Putting the barrel on makes it much closer to parfocal with the others. I’m less likely to drop it too. I don’t know how long your telescope is but if I wasn’t extravagant with my buying I could have probably gone straight from the 8E to the 4.7E. Something to think about. Wonder what the APM 5 is like comparison to the 4.7E?
