  1. There is a saddle available thats used for mounts that can be loaded with 2 scopes. The saddle can be adjusted/aligned with the primary saddle/scope. in your case you can use that saddle as primary saddle and make the adjustments you described. Im not sure where to buy it but i assume Rowan has or had this clamp for their AZ 100 mount
  2. Dont forget to place a scarecrow somewhere to prevent them actually visit the house and “whiten” the pier.
  3. Nice mount. Did all work okay with the asiair-sxd2 combination?
  4. One week later the (interim) score is: 16 yes 4 No 8 50/50
  5. One thing i noticed once while reading a description of a telescope, i thought it was william optics, was about the amount of acceptable errors in the coating for example. It showed basically that imperfections which dont have any influence on the performance are accepted But i admit i would prefer a perfect unharmed telescope myself. The chips shown on your pictures are maybe bigger than Celestron policy on imperfections. Im not sure where Celestron shows it in its description
  6. Im no mirror maker. More woodworking. And when i have a nice peace of wood selected for some stairs, i often have a situation where there is a damaged or thinner area on the wood. After putting through all sorts of planing and sanding machines, it sometimes still shows a fraction of that bigger spot. When its not in sight/visible and causes no harm, why throw it away? The same might have happened with this mirror. Maybe they couldn’t make the diameter smaller to hide the damage. I think its less visible when you blacken/paint it in some matte black
  7. I also removed it on my c8. Just to have a look at the hyperstar system. They made that mirror easy removable for that purpose so i dont think you have voided the warranty.
  8. I would go for that new clamp. That red one for example. You want to switch scopes sometimes and therefore its best to have a standardized clamp.
  9. On my normal c8 i had a ring in between like on your picture. But just to not scrape the black paint off of the c8 when attaching the focuser.
  10. Ah ok. Well of course there will be some time spend on comparing views. But were you aware of the scope you were looking through? Or did you only realised which scope was the winner, after the verdicts?
  11. They explain how to read a diagram and indeed explain a bit why the Takahashi is a better choice than e.g. the celestron astromaster 130eq.
  12. When you have a gathering in the UK this year or next, please try to find a test panel/person who rates the views through taks and some more recent models of technosky and 120ed’s. But blindfolded! Will the tak really win?😬🙂
  13. Ha no problem. Just a small reminder. But let us read with all the pro’s and con’s please. Im thinking of buying this for my daughter but also a bit curious for my own use to upgrade an old losmandy/Celestron mount. Thanks and good luck with getting to know this device.
  14. John40 fainted after this explanation
  15. Something went wrong with updated pictures and reviews? Or did it fling into orbit?
  16. I bought once (with a used scope purchase) a case with all sorts of eyepieces. Some were good and well known. Some were quit good, cheap and not that known. These cheap wide angles are often with me outside at night.
  17. If lego is smart, they dont throw some grey curved blocks in a box and voila “Lego SpaceX SN 13”
  18. Its not really diy but it eliminates a lot of diy efforts i think. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-focusers/4tronix-focusrf-remote-control-for-dc-focus-motors.html
  19. I once bougth a used Mini cooper s and after some time decided to give it to my ex-wife. We owned a normal mini during our marriage and the cooper s was always something special, fast etc. It was (according to me) exactly like that, fast, cool etc. Anyway, she didn’t want the car so i sold it. Having used the car some months, i sold it to a German surgeon with eyes for detail and probably plenty of spare time to fill with his nurburgring hobby. I drove the car to his office in Germany where we made a testride through the mountains. It took about 5 minutes until he told me something was wrong with the car. Not really wrong but he could tell me from behind the wheel which airhose probably lost pressure going full speed. Without negotiating he bought the car. A good week later he texted me that the car had its missing 15/20 hp back. 😐. I was very happy with the car. Visited about 20-30 different cars before buying that final one. But no matter how happy i was,if there was an Adam J who would have told me im not getting full potentional, I probably would have gotten even happier after the repair. conclusion for me: please make people use their gear to the full potential if you notice they are using it wrong or somethings is wrong, and dont back down mentioning (helping) when having the risk it temporarily hurts.
  20. No matter how satisfied and happy i would be with a new scope, I definitely would have someone telling me what i actually just bought. I think most people would prefer that kind of experienced eyes looking into their gear. Im not sure but i assume the extra check of the optics, dealers offer, are a welcome addition. Even if the dealers check report looks good, i would let it check again. dont waste your expertise when something caught your eye.
  21. That orange reducer is worth about €120,- Somehow they like japan made reducers. The C8 will sell for €650,- But thats in Euro’s and here in The Netherlands. 😬. Uk prices are/were much lower.
