  1. Pizza and astronomy What a combo! 😋😋😋 Okay, who's for pineapple on pizza!?
  2. I've just checked. Weather forecast is going to be sunny and clear: I'm working.
  3. You gotta do the rain dance, in reverse!
  4. I thought being at the science station on the USS Enterprise would be all you need!
  5. The guy waiting doesn't look too happy. I wonder if it is because the other one is hogging the eyepiece or did he have beans for tea?
  6. Double digit temperatures at last. But thick cloud and rain
  7. I think that the globe should be pretty much finished once the polar caps are filled in. Like you said, it has that look and feel of the bygone era of Lowell and I think, is all the better for it. If I had the space for it, it would take a prominent place for display because I love it.
  8. Just going back a minute to how diffuse nebulae would look if you were within: I have been led to believe that our solar system actually is in a hole in a nebula complex that surrounds us at only a few light years away. So, you might have quite a job seeing it.
  9. Unless you are an old codger like me, you can afford to wait a few years for things to settle. Eventually they will, as they always have 😃
  10. Much as can be said, I do believe that discussing politics and associated things is against the rules on here, so I got to agree that it's best to drop it 😉
  11. Please do as it is wandering into the realms of forbidden territory on here
  12. Okay then. But it still works as a cartel. The "big six" energy companies then. One puts their price up, the other five follow suit within a few days. If they were actually in competition they would not be doing that. You'll also find that they'll put their prices up rather quicker than they reduce them when wholesale costs go down.
  13. They have been doing it for years: OPEC is one such example.
  14. I had a similar problem with a Starlight Xpress ccd camera I got. No matter what the thing would not work with the laptop. I was at my wits end. Then I plugged it into a different usb port and it was as happy as Larry. The port wasn't faulty, it just didn't like it connected on that one. See if it works, you might be lucky. Computers are fickle things, that's why I have switched to the camp of Ludd as I find my patience with tech gets shorter with each year I age.
  15. Your singing voice might go up a few octaves 😉
  16. I'm glad I'm not an astro imager. I'm turning increasingly Murtaugh with every passing day: "I'm getting too old for this "
  17. Forecast cloudy with possible rain for me tonight 😕
  18. Likewise. But I am enjoying the idea of being able to get a permanent record of what I have been looking at
  19. Last Saturday, the awfully nice courier - no, seriously he was great, delivered this little baby to me. I could not resist getting it. Originally wanted a 4 inch frac on an eq mount but lost out on a nice little Celestron - Vixen one last autumn. 160 quid from fleabay plus 52 for courier service because I don't drive. I gave it first light yesterday with sunspot and lunar shots. Photos are from the listing, but it is in great condition, lens lovely and clear. Only niggle I really have is focuser being a basic rack and pinion, shifts with the crazy load I've put on it.
  20. What's a dark sky? I've seen unicorns, fairies, the loch Ness monster and Bigfoot, but I've never seen one of those mythical things!
  21. I won't argue with that
  22. I posted 7 photos last night / this morning. Taken with a C4R refractor and Olympus Pen-F, single exposures. https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/376079-tonights-moon-439/ Yesterday was first light with that scope. I know they're not perfect by far, but even though looking grainy one of those actually surprised me at the detail I have caught. And I'm certainly no astrotog. If anything I did find a few problems: mainly that the focuser can't take the weight of what I hung on it, giving quite a lot of shift. Not surprising though as it was a crazy train. Then I need a shorter way of mounting camera to telescope, which might reduce the shift quite considerably. I'm tempted to set up the C8 or even the C11 if it stays clear, but now I've said that it'll be cloud-out nation.
  23. When I saw the title, I thought that you'd either retired, won the lottery or got a divorce! 😄
