  1. Hi all, here is the HA and Baader K-line images from yesterday. Lunt 60mm DS and 80ed stopped down to 60mm plus Baader K-Line filter. Haven't really had much time to spend on these today but hope you like them.
  2. I love experimenting with equipment so as I'm eventually going to buy a Lunt CA-K module and I've already got a baader k-line filter what's to loose, lol. I've been experimenting with light path today with a hershal wedge+ ND3/ND1.8 with one or the other + 0.5 reducer+ the Baader K-Line filter without Baader K-Line filter in different positions of the light path to get the largest disk possible with the Zwo ASI 178mm. The results are:- Hershal wedge + ND1.8 + 0.5 reducer + Baader K-Line filter. I've got a hydrogen alpha 7nm filter that I'm going to put in the mix instead of the Baader K-Line filter just because I can, lol. After all science is about experimenting isn't it. As long as we're very, very careful with our eyesight what's to loose.
  3. Hi, yes, that's my idea eventually, when I too get the Lunt CA-K module.
  4. Hi, yes, much wider than the Lunt CA-K module. Nonetheless it's a good filter for the price compared to the Lunt. It's pretty much like a higher contrast of the continuum filter.
  5. Yes, definitely only imaging, anything in the UV/IR ranges should be treated with respect. Well I guess all solar observation/imaging should be, our eyes are precious.
  6. It does sound like you hadn't reached focus. Try to focus on the sun's limb to start with and this should become sharp. Then look for any active regions as in spots or the lighter areas which are more pronounced near the limb in white light. This was today's sun with a baader k-line filter and Hershal wedge.
  7. Hi, yes, AVI files stacked in Autostakker3 and sharpening in ImPPG. I usually take a 1000 frame AVI file and stack 40% Then I transfer the sharpened image into Photoshop but that's just for adding false colour..
  8. Thanks David, transparency was good I think albeit between the clouds.
  9. Thanks David, appreciate your comment. Hopefully you'll get some sun tomorrow
  10. Well done on your first solar imaging session. Have you tried ImPPG for sharpening after stacking?
  11. It's very hit and miss this week unfortunately. Last week was amazing.
  12. Hi, it was really nice to meet up on zoom and put names to face's. For the K-Line I use a 80mm ed refractor@ f6.8 which I reduce with an aperture mask to 60mm because of the wavelength. Mark on solarchat suggested that I do that and it does make a difference. I use a Lunt hershal wedge with a ND1.8 filter instead of the installed ND3. I place a 0.5 reducer in the mix with the Baader K-Line filter. I use a Zwo ASI 178mm on both the HA and Baader K-Line scope's. Hope this makes sense.
  13. Thanks Jeremy. I was surprised I got anything as it was only a 50% stack of 250 frames. I usually like to get 1000 frames and stack 40%.
  14. Hi all, not the best of images as there was a lot of cloud. Anyway here is the HA and Baader K-line images for the day. Lunt 60mm DS and 80ed stopped down to 60mm plus Baader K-Line filter.
  15. Hi all, only managed one image today due to cloud. 80ed stopped down to 60mm plus Baader K-lIne filter. Lovely spot group and AR region coming onto disk at the North Eastern Limb at 10 O'clock position.
  16. My next purchase will definitely be a straight through Lunt CaK module if I can even get hold of one in stock, lol.
  17. New Zwo ASI 178mm camera for my baader k-line scope arrived yesterday for my dual solar imaging rig. Already up and running this morning, lol. Great camera for solar imaging.
  18. Probably other manufacturers will step in, perhaps UK built scope's, mount's like in the 70's.
  19. Just arrived today with guaranteed clear skies. Baader ND1.8 for my hershal wedge instead of the ND3 that was installed. Will only be for imaging and give higher frame rate captures. Thanks FLO.
  20. Yes, lovely proms today, large one at the 4 o'clock position on South Western rim. Also a very small spot just off center, South East position. Several small filaments but one largeish filament North Easton region at the 11 o'clock position. Three plage area's with one one associated with the small spot.
  21. Sorry to hear your news but great you got a refund. I've got a Lunt 60mm double stack which I'm very pleased with. I did get mine second hand so it was not so expensive as new. New these things are atronomical, lol. I know mass produced etchalons are hit and miss but there should be better quality control.
