  1. I like shinny things. I have been known to look at my stuff in appreciation from time to time, lol.
  2. I had that one as well. Went missing in several move's, lol.
  3. That's fantastic, well done and interesting instrument.
  4. It'll be fine, they're be lots of second hand, hardly used stuff on the market in six to twelve months time at 2/3rds to 50% of the new price.
  5. Yep, I paid £600 for a fullerscope Newtonian with MKIV mount, none goto mid 70's. I think I was on £35 a week summer job plus tips. Saved every penny I could and took six months plus. Now x that by today's minimum salary for summer jobs and you have a conservative estimate of £5000 to £6000 for the same scope.
  6. I think it adds around 30% including import duties and taxes but that still doesn't justify the higher cost. It's a bit of a con but what can we do if we want to add certain types of observations to our kit. It's sad really when we're adding to scientific research.
  7. You certainly do. Alas everything is down to what you can afford I guess.
  8. That's probably the one I'd go for eventually but the straight through one. Slightly less glass to go through because of the wedge eliminate. Hope you get some sun soon, it's been very hit and miss here, only about six imaging sessions in January and February only one so far.
  9. Hiya, sorry I was to late to the post. Hope you don't mind me asking what Lunt Cak module did you get in the end? I'm waiting for Brexit and covid to settle down before looking into purchasing a Lunt cak module.
  10. A bit late to this post but only just got a baader k-line filter for Christmas and the weather has been awful but first light results seem pleasing. My thoughts about getting one was the fact that, 1. I can't afford a Lunt cak at between £1100 and £1990 and 2. When I can the baader and be used with the Lunt cak to increase contrast so nothing lost. The image's were taken with an Hershel wedge, 80ed refractor and zwo ASI 178mm cam. Still experimental at the moment. In my opinion it's a good filter to get to grips with k-line imaging and processing of said image's.
  11. Sorry to hear about the theft. I guess they were never recovered.
  12. I've LED lights around the streets but only two near me and the council put on baffles to the extent it's pitch black where my obsys are so I'm really pleased. Also the LEDs reflect light to the ground not into the sky so it's a marked difference. Where they've yet to replace the old lights in town towards the eastern side there is a slight orange glow.
  13. I just used a one in three cement and builder's sand mix plus some drain pipe. I know mine was for an obsy but the principal is the same whatever you put around it. Underground cable run up through the middle. Remember to put a gap between the piller and surrounding patio, etc.
  14. Couldn't have explained it better Peter. Hope that's helpful Neil.
  15. I lived in Manchester when at uni suffice to say, "the sky was a nice orange 🍊 colour."
  16. Thanks Neil, appreciate your comment. I'm still on a learning curve and still trying new things to bring out the details, much to learn.
  17. Thanks, I'm hoping it'll be clear, first time I'd be able to use my HA and K-line scope's to image a partial solar eclipse.
  18. Yeah, it's difficult this time of year, I only get an hour window of opportunity in the afternoon from November to March because of tree's, add to that the weather cooperating at the same time is challenging to say the least. Still I don't have to drive anywhere so that's good.
  19. Thanks, appreciate your comment. Just lucky to get an hour of sunshine today.
  20. Thanks Ade, was supposed to be cloudy here all day but cleared up for an hour.
  21. Thanks Dave, be nicer when the sun is higher in the sky.
  22. It's a rare occurrence, like total solar eclipses from your own location, lol.
