  1. Where do you buy Eudiascopics from? I was under the impression they had been replaced by the Hyperion range.
  2. No choice for me. Panoptic eye relief too short. Delos 17 v Delite 18 would be interesting.
  3. TV 32mm plossl (longest fl 1.25") has OK eye relief. Team it up with a TV Barlow you would get even better eye relief & for 2.5x mag an effective shorter fl (but narrower field of view). Otherwise any Vixen SLV would have 20mm eye relief.
  4. Several optics. Pentax zoom in the FLO sale. Celestron 2x Barlow. 2nd LVW22mm & LV9mm for bino viewer (prob Maxbright). 13mm LVW on the way. Big "Thank You" to @moonluna for wanting 2 TV Radians enough to swap for the LVW!
  5. Many thanks for being willing to swap optics! I hope you enjoy the 2 TV Radian eps. I am very grateful to you for exchanging a Vixen LVW for them!

  6. TV Panoptic 35mm. Fine ep, good eye relief, overshadowed by Ethos 21 and Nagler 31.
  7. Top left, I also have a pair of Baush and Lomb 7x50 WW2 bins. US Navy BU Ships 1942 Mk 2. Did my first stargazing with them and saw M13 and M31 for the first time, got me hooked. Off centre astigmatism increases but 76 years later, they are still intact, have decent haze penetration and give bright views. Weight less marginally than my Strathspey marine 7x50.
  8. Ironic that the TS do have sliding hoods while FC, which is sold as portable, does not. Point to SW for the Equinox, though the standard ED models have screw on hoods. I suppose an Astro zap hood on its own would do. Do the OL caps only fit on your Tak's hood end? ₩
  9. Shame that ? it would make portability much easier. Also how many times can you unscrew a hood on aluminium before the thread wears down? In view of the extra length from the hood, the F7.5s win for travel all other reasons apart.
  10. Very hard to choose indeed! That the DF has a sliding dew shield is another point in its favour, along with the beefier focuser. My Equinoxes and Genesis have that kind, and it's a greater benefit than a screw on/off type, apart from rigid OL protection. The DL has an allure all its own though, and the attraction of using longer FL eps with it, so increasing the range of better eye relief optics usable. As far as TFOV, in real life viewing, how much increase is there using the F7.5 models? Which scope would be better for an Astro Physics 2 inch diagonal?
  11. Though I have sold most of my LV eps due to buying LVWs, I have kept my 9mm and 20mm ones, as in pairs for a bino viewer. Their eye relief is better than SLV eps due to roll down eye cup. Sharp images from edge to edge and low weight but 50 deg FOV. Usually affordable in 25mm down focal lengths on ebay etc.
  12. That is a peculiar looking trade mark on the diagonal! What make?
  13. I have 55mm and 32mm. Both as finder eps. The 32 has same TFOV as 41 I believe.
  14. I have the tripod with my Skytee-2 so only need the mount side of things. Shame the SkyTee can't be converted. Did you mean this one John? https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-mounts/skywatcher-az-eq5-gt-geq-alt-az-mount.html
  15. 60 next year! My eyes have improved since retirement, hardly any computer time helps. But yes physical too. Why I use a 10 inch dob and have shelved the 12 rebuild for now. The difference 30 years makes is alarming. Is there a GOTO mount of any design or make that is strong and powerful enough for an ED120, & Mak 150 or 180 even?
  16. My Equinox is here to stay, but a GOTO alt az mount appeals to me. I was wondering if the Skywatcher Supatrak or Synscan would be able to take a 150. FLO only sells the 127 with either mount as complete kits.
  17. Glad your 120 ED was OK, sad you didn't like it. What do you prefer about the 127 Mak, given the small increase in aperture with CO now. I would have thought the 150 would be a more signifigant upsize.
  18. Happy Christmas! I am confused. Selling a 120, going back to a 100 spyglass. OK for AP I guess but going to be more disappointing for visual.
  19. Having recently bought, but little used a 120 Equinox, I found this thread equally unsettling & inspiring. Buying my beautiful-to-look-at, as well as through, refractor is another step up in lens rather than reflection aided viewing. The former started with binoculars long long ago. Havinga Newtonian & a SCT, I would not contemplate that, even a 150 triplet could equal my C8 or 10" Bresser Messier for light grasp. But I could for resolution (what do close double star separations work best through?). My 120 is next step up from a Tele Vue Genesis 100mm. The Equinox is still light enough to load into a car & take where I want to view, it is not a dob. I can fit the dog beside it. Jules I hope you are enjoying your ED120 more! My next compact scope will either be a Mak or Goto drive fork mounted SCT - possibly an 8 again. The C8 is a good general purpose scope that will pick up DSO, has catalogues of accessories for adapting to different uses & my orange tube still has no dents. For an aperture boost but with the neatness fracs give, I recommend a SCT!
