  1. Was lazy last night before diner was ready (had limited time too) and viewed Venus through the double glazing in the dining room. Got a pretty good view too, and much warmer than outside! Hehe! ;)

  2. Thanks John. I read that review already. The reviewer does state that the semi-APO filter is more neutral than the contrast Booster, but it could be like you say dependant on who views through them. Still leaning towards the semi-APO filter so more than likely go with this one.
  3. Thanks Robin. Plan to use the filter on the first three 'fracs listed in my signature. Don't need it for my ED 80mm obviously, as the CA in that is almost none existent.
  4. Hi all. Leaning towards getting either a Baader Semi-APO filter, or their Contrast Booster 1.25" filter. Both roughly similar prices, but wondered which of the two are best; the Contrast Booster gets good reviews, but the APO filter is more neutral when reducing the CA in refractors so leaning towards that more, but just wondered what other members thoughts are on this if you own one or the other. Cheers, Gus
  5. Good to get out again after a cold. Saw Tegmine & Eskimo nebula, among other targets in Auriga & Gemini. Nice session if chilly still! :)

  6. Got a nice Lunt wedge with filters from Moonshane that got delivered yesterday by the postie. Had first light with it yesterday, but nothing much to see on the sun. Nice and sunny here today again, so going to have a peak again to see if I can see any solar activity again soon!
  7. Glad it all went well for you Jules. Enjoy the new scope!
  8. Darn it! Nice clear skies outside, and I'm full of cold! Grrrrrr......?

Yeah.. know that feeling, just coming out the back end of one, thanks to my darling wife to be..

Hope your feeling better soon... looks like the next few days might be not too bad!

Thanks Fozzie. Hoping it won't last too long! Fingers crossed! :)

  9. Lunt wedge & an az4 mount nabbed off Shane & Jules for a late Christmas prezzy to oneself! Hehe! ;)

  10. Never got it. A bidding frenzy at the end pushed it up too high.
  11. Nice scope Chris. Seriously tempted by one of these!
  12. Thanks, they do go well together. Yes, that is what I really want to compare and see which gives a better view. In theory the Omni 120 should give better views with the XLT coating, and the longer focul length too, but await a chance to test them side by side on the Skytee 2 mount together to test this.
  13. New addition of a Celestron Omni 120mm XLT f8.3 to my small family of 'fracs. Still awaiting a proper first light with it due to the weather, but ready and waiting to go none the less. Photographed here with my Altair Astro 102mm f11.
  14. Refractoritis strikes again! Hehe! ;)

  16. Ordered up some parfocal rings for my EP's. Hoping they make viewing much easier when switching EPs and having to refocus. Fingers crossed! :)

      Thanks Charl. Hope so. :)

  17. Chilly night out there, but through intermittent clouds M42, M81 & M82 were very nice. Even nabbed the Eskimo nebula in Gemini despite the moon nearby. Now time to warm up & get some sleep! :)

  18. Had a quick look through the new Televue 10mm Delos I got off Marki last night. Even with the moon out and  clouds too it looks looks it will give great views! :)

  19. Sky wasn't great, but still managed to see Neptune pretty well by pushing the magnification up to 214x with the Powermate. :)

Hi Reggie. Sadly clouded over soon after viewing Neptune alas, so unable to tell as yet!

  20. Another fun night with the Goto mount, with my Starwave 102mm f11 'frac attached for some great views! :)

  21. Just had so much fun outside observing, anyone would think I'm not at work in the morning! Yikes! ;)
