clarkpm4242 replied to Shimrod's topic in Celestial Events Heads Up
About 23.15 Sunday evening from Swaledale, N. Yorkshire. Obvious coloured beams as I turned off the car lights. had eased off by the time I got the camera set up... ...processed for impact. The colour was very pale. Paul. P.S. I see the video can be downloaded.... Project 4 avi.avi- 12 replies

Kelling fish pond.
clarkpm4242 replied to davew's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
The Nikon Z6 does well with ambient foregrounds, in the right hands. My Canon has an iso-variant sensor and is one of the reasons for the light painting I'm doing. Hope you get more opportunities this season! Paul -
...in remote Weardale last Saturday. Weather forecast was good for ~4 hours so made the effort to get away from my local patch. This is the result of the only clear spell (10 mins) at the onset of dark... ...composition was somewhat rushed! Sky 8 x 10s, f2.5, iso2500, single light painted foreground 13s, f3.5, iso1600. Stacked in Sequator and combined using lighten blend mode in Photoshop. Cheers, Paul. P.S. Click...

...a.k.a. Big Dipper glows through clouds above Old Gang Smelt Mill. Last Friday. Single sky image. ~6 light painted foreground. Canon 6D MKII, Sigma 24mm. Photoshop layers, layer masks and lighten blend mode to combine images. The clouds really make the asterism stand out. Cheers, Paul.

A Castle and a River...

...two from August 30th. Both using static tripod and Sequator for stacking sky exposures blended with light painted foreground exposures in Photoshop. Pendragon Castle, bit of an ordeal as there is a big ditch/moat to navigate. The rock beds on the River Swale...composition hasn't really worked however it was fantastic in the middle of the flowing water under the stars Paul PS Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. Thank you all for the nice comments. The flowers are...see @FenlandPaul 🤣 I got the MSM as a lightweight portable tracker for wide field nightscapes. So far it does that job!! Have no expectations to go longer than 50mm fl and 120s on a full frame camera. Will carry a Canon 6D MkII and a choice of 14, 24 and 50mm lenses. I bought the starter pack. Needed an extra ball head. Laser is easy to use. Needs collimation first! Also have the 'Z' mount that I use as a 'V' wedge. The 'Z' mount has been fine, though only used at low wind speeds. MUCH lighter than my Manfrotto geared head. See pics for 16 x 60s test with too high an iso...nice round stars on a hazy night. It stays ready for use in my bag all the time. Paul

From Thursday night. This is ~12 x 10s, iso400 and f8 light painted foreground. One 120s ambient foreground to help with post-processing. Sky, 9 x 60s, iso800 and f2.8 on a Move Shoot Move. 6D MkII, Sigma 50mm. LR, Sequator and PS. Back of our house, sky from position ~20m behind foreground position to get a clear horizon for blending. Some trailing, the tripod was on a poor grassy surface. Needs a click. Cheers, Paul P.S. Name those flowers!!

Moonbows - Anyone?
clarkpm4242 replied to Macavity's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
@Macavity Best seen when its darker early in the evenings. A low fullish moon gives a big arc. This image is processed to give a 'naked eye' view. Little colour. The camera will produce a wierdly colourful image. Paul. P.S. This was seen two nights in a row. -
...taken last weekend. New toy - Move Shoot Move tracker. Very portable and simple to use for DSLR and widefield lenses. Need to ensure laser pointer is collimated first. Sky 8 x 60s Canon 7D MkII, Sigma 24mm. Blended, light painted foreground. Experimented with starless processing for Milky Way. Cheers, Paul. Needs a click...
