  1. So, I am not the only one utterly astonished that this superb scope has not been snapped up. I seriously considered it but I have the f7.7 ED103 Swt and I could not part with it.
  2. A great read Al and mine lives on my bedside cabinet where I can delve into it before sleep.
  3. Hi, Welcome to SGL I have used BST eyepieces in the past and they are really good eyepieces regardless of the fact that they are inexpensive. The 12mm and 18mm , I thought, were the pick of the range, very good, but I have no experience of the BST barlow so I cannot comment . I think you have chosen well, the 8mm will give 150x nice, for planetary, though barlowed to 300x may not get much use. The rest, 66x, 100x, 133x and 200x are a nice spread and will allow you to cover all bases, and get you well into the hobby whilst you discover where your main interests may lie. Good luck and enjoy your new telescope...🙂
  4. Good news Al ! As for observing, I have had none for at least 10 days.
  5. Stu is correct. We all know the vagaries of weather and what you see on first light is not really important. I am more interested in your 'first light ' experience, however it turns out, what you experience and feel is what the report should be about, your joy using a new to you scope. Everyone knows how good an FS128 is, when the weather obliges.....🙂
  6. Beautiful telescope Stu, you will be delighted with it. I had a Starwave f11 several years ago and it was excellent on Planetary and double stars.
  7. When I had an NEQ6 it was kept on my pier in the garden for about 5 years, under a bicycle cover bought from a well known store. Apart from taking the cover off to allow 'airing' I never did anything else and I never had a problem, not even when, after a few years and a storm one night, it split. I don't think the mount could have got wetter if I had immersed the thing in a tub, but a few days in the warmth of the boiler cupboard, it was back outside and working as never before. I suppose the major lesson from this is, if you do the same, inspect your cover from time to time.
  8. Congratulations ! I have held one, but never looked through one , so is on my bucket list...
  9. I have used mine in a few sessions now and I really like it so have considered using a pair of them. It is quite impressive regardless of its price, so I too await your thoughts on using a pair of them.......👍
  10. The seeing continues to improve little by little, and I can see a really dark elongated oval feature in front of the GRS that I have not seen before.
  11. Well, although Jupiter is much higher now the seeing has improved very little, but even at 85x I can just about see the GRS. Neptune I can detect no colour, Uranus is showing at least, a soft disc of grey, and Saturn is, unmistakably Saturn, but no Cassini and nothing else, so I think I will watch Masterchef and hope Orion will have some delights for me, later.......
  12. Seeing not good here so far tonight, Jupiter is showing a soft disc at 77x Maybe later...🤞
  13. Welcome back Nick...🙂
  14. Not everyone Tim , not everyone......😉
  15. Recently arrived to join my other two Pentax units, the XL 10.5.
  16. Some years ago I stuck an 8" Newt on an EQ5.......but not for long, I got motion sickness..
  17. I would be proud of that, very good...👍
  18. Ha Ha. Been there done that and still doing it John. Only controlled by limited funds...đŸ¤Ŗ
  19. I caught the GRS and Europa transit earlier and seeing the alignment is a nice finish. The sky is still clear but the seeing is by far the worst of several sessions in the last 10 days, so I will call it a day.
