  1. I love the sketches Ade, you should post them more often.
  2. Whilst I applaud the skill and patience of imagers, and I too love to see what they produce, I have no desire to attempt it myself and I am firmly in the camp of observational Astronomy. It is being at the eyepiece, under the stars in real time for me, and always will be, enjoying the peace and quiet. If I could not do that, I would not bother at all.
  3. What a find for £12, excellent binoculars, well done.
  4. A few years ago, at Kelling Heath, I saw such a vivid blue Cat's Eye Nebula through my friend's 20" Dob, that a sharp exclamation was called for...
  5. I have just received this. My scopes and everything in the optical train of each of them is certainly up to the task, so I hope that my ageing eye balls will allow this fine eyepiece to shine...
  6. My apologies to all who offered their assistance, in failing to respond with an outcome. I hasten to add that the solution, as shown to me, did not take all this time to implement , and I have been enjoying binoviewing at native focus since last summer. The ultra slim adapter was all that was needed to attach the Denks, so my thanks to all...
  7. Hi Agnes, I used one, for some time actually, and it worked perfectly well with small eyepieces such as Orthoscopics and plossls, but for Starguiders I would not like to say . The locating click between stations worked very well on mine I have to say, but it seems good and not so good can be what you end up with. I did sell mine on eventually because I binoview now with all sorts of eyepiece pairs from 35mm Eudiascopics to 7mm Ortho's.
  8. That 30mm 70 deg looks like the APM ocular to me, quite expensive as well, if it is.
  9. That is a major upgrade to the optical system, it can't fail to improve things......,congratulations.
  10. Good choice Geoff. I have upgraded a couple of focusers in the past with these and I think they are superb value for money, and so easy to fit...
  11. I also have that Dave , it is very useful. Steve
  12. Excellent Dave. It will be interesting to see how many more you unearth...
  13. Congratulations Dave, should be excellent in that FS 128.
  14. Incredible achievement, and an amazing transformation Shane in such a short space of time, just brilliant.!
  15. Being a sucker for Japan made optics, I found this little beauty to carry out star alignments with my 5" refractor on the NEQ6. I could have made do with a cheaper Illuminated reticle, but this just oozes quality ! The eye lens in the knurled turret rotates for focus, and it has two illuminated cross hairs. This Orthoscopic Illuminated Reticle is made by Vixen, but no longer available new. The illuminated part is held in place by a collet, rather than the usual screw in type. Beautifully solidly made.
  16. Excellent Chris, very informative, and I pretty much agree. My choice, because I have one, would be the 4" F7.4 refractor. If just one telescope, it would have to be a refractor.
  17. I have left my EQ6 on the pier and covered, for almost three years now without a problem ( touching wood ), even though thieving scum have been around and removed the reg plates from my wife's car twice in as many months. The measures I have taken to secure the mount and pier would necessitate a lot of noise to remove them, and my bedroom overlooks the site. I also have a window open all year round, so I cannot do much more. I would like to put a housing round it, but my wife , though she says "oh just go ahead with it ", is not keen and you can see by the size of the scope how big the footprint would have to be, so she will not like it, and it probably won't happen. I probably will compromise and put a circular trellis around it and grow Passion Flower all over it, which should give me some privacy in a short space of time.
  18. I keep reading good things about these Vixen HR eyepieces, so be sure to give us your thoughts when you can Stu. I doubt that I would need to worry too much about a pair of 3.4's though, my eyes would be watering too much to get any benefit.
  19. I have a Robin Casady dovetail clamp with red anodized knobs, holding my big refractor, and I was thinking of a nice PrimaLuce Losmandy style plate to match the knobs. What do you think John.
  20. I must say the PrimaLuce stuff does look good, and I have some FLO Xmas vouchers burning a hole in my pocket. Hmm.
  21. Great images Alan , but for me The Ghost is just fantastic !
  22. Lovely scopes Paul.........Excellent eyepiece !
  23. Very nice Ady ! I had a champagne coloured ED100 once, but I sold that also. You can't please some people ! You have a bit of a Moonlite theme going on now.
