  1. Finally got round to fitting an autofocuser to my 127mm Mak wip at moment awaiting a spacer from lasermaster to fit on focus tube adapter as thickness of plate needs accounting for as screw on adapter is not hitting threaded screw focus tube which spacer will account for all seems to work well hopefully next week I can test if we get a clear spell .

  5. Thanks John I have used lasermaster before whilst making my pier 👍
  6. I am in the middle of fitting a bracket to hold my autofocuser to my old blue 127mm mak , which is a 3mm thick plate with a 46mm hole that locates over the focuser held in position by the screw in focus adapter but because of the plate thickness when adapter screwed to hold plate I have play in the adapter so I need a washer 42mm Od and id hole no smaller than 32mm to take the slack up when adapter screwed home anyone know of a washer must be metal or a hard plastic.

  11. Look at using an led ceiling light you get Big ones these days up to 600mm square
  12. I believe if you use bias then don’t use dark flats or vice versa , It would be better to dither using a dslr if possible as that will get rid of walking noise and the need for darks .
  13. @MarkAR To be honest it was the first time I had tried this target, being in town lp may be a problem with longer subs I will have a look maybe once full moon passed
  14. Don’t be so disappointed you only need to look at the 130pds thread it performs well above its weight , people adapt the scope to make it better just mind you don’t cut too much off which is determined by the second set of rollers the focus tube rides on , in the fully out position the tube needs to rest on the rollers without slipping off , if you do mind that can be overcome by fitting a small grub screw on the focus tube flat to act as a stop .

  18. Iso values given are correct it’s all to do with dynamic range and noise that higher iso add ,cameras vary due to sensors etc , , I use a Nikon D5300 which is iso invariant and shoot at 200 iso previously used the 1000D at 800 I never used it at 200 but it was a noisy camera so may have benefitted from a lower iso .
  19. From APT manual Here are the requirements for making mirror lock with the different models: Processor Mirror Lock C.Fn. Mirror Lock needs shutter cable Digic 2 Manual Yes Digic 3 Automatic Yes or simulation Digic 4 and later Automatic No If the camera has Digic 3 processor and “Long exposure control” to “Virtual”, APT will simulate Mirror Lock using LiveView. Note that simulated “Mirror lockup” leads to amp glow when is used in long exposures! The Digic 2 and Digic 3 cameras need an additional PC operated shutter cable in order to make mirror lockup. Some options for such cable are listed in the section EOS Shutter Cables. For Digic 2 cameras you have to enable/disable manually the "Mirror Lock C.Fn." function from the camera menu. Enable it with Anti-Vibration Pause is greater than 0s. Disable it when Anti-Vibration Pause is 0s. Note that in order to manage automatically the "Mirror Lock C.Fn." function from the camera menu, you have to enable the option "Mirror Lock Automation" from Main Settings tab.
