  1. Wow this has turned into an 'interesting' thread 🙂 At the risk of being argumentative, at the time of my 'battery - wire - bulb' suggestion, the OP had a stripped cable to connector and wanted to see if the red or yellow was positive. Making the assumption that it was a Skywatcher supply, my suggestion would have worked. Try it yourself if you get bored, It emulates a multi meter continuity test. What I (all of us really) didn't know was just how unqualified for the task the OP was at the time. I fail to see why you need to poo poo my suggestion ' twice ' Have I offended you 🙂
  2. It will if he uses it to check if the yellow or red is connected to the centre pin ! 🙂
  3. What solver are you using, I prefer astap, might be worth trying it, also try different exposure times maybe.
  4. If you don't have a meter but can solder ... You could use a small battery, some cable and a lamp to make a DIY tester.
  5. Oag will help mitigate any differential flexure and may even deal with mirror movement of you're lucky. Tricky to set up but once done should stay set up.
  6. Well done Kostas and well deserved 👍🏻
  7. Very nice, I love seeing the comparisons with the two types of image.
  8. I'm sure there is a thread on this on cloudy nights somewhere, didn't look easy though ! If I can dig it out I'll link to it later when at home.
  9. No reason, it's just the app I chose to use a few times.
  10. If you have the time and patience, before your final choice, see if you can find an AirBnB to stay at nearby for a few nights.
  11. Maybe try changing the folder It saves in, might be a weird Windows permissions error.
  12. Sorry Mark, sounds strange but I've never had it happen ... yet 🙂
  13. Nice, it's really tough with it being so low down.
  14. Cheers Mandy, I've seen that ... but cringed at the price ! I guess It is something thats made to fine tolerances so the cost isn't bad really. I do have a fair size chunk of film left from my 72ED diy job.
  15. I've been thinking of trying that myself, it's a shame that the film is too narrow for the 9.25. Have you any pictures ?
  16. It's looking beautiful in Essex, I'm sure it won't last though 😄
  17. Hi all, there is a thread on here about Astro in the UK, is it worth it ... How much fun can you have in 15 minutes of cloud free morning 🙂 Nikon D5600 - 70-300VR with DIY baader film filter - handheld. 80% of 60 NEFF files, Pipped, Autoskkert, IMPPG, coloured in PS6. Disk is looking busy today !
  18. I'm really no expert but I think they're good shots. aperture is king with planetary and for 5" you're on the right track. You might find leaving the barlow out will get you higher frame rates as you're possibly oversampling with the 2 micron pixels on your ASI 678. I'd aim for 5 x pixel size as f number, you're at about 11 x with the barlow.
