  1. So why restrict the 1000x potential to such limited use , surely it'd be used on everything especially planets , a little far-fetched would be my continuing belief. Anyone else using 1000x mag out there , I'm intrigued now.
  2. And exactly what EP is employed in a 100mm 'scope to give perfect views at 1000x magnification ... ? A magic 0.74mm TV of some description ... ?
  3. Lovely capture there ... So sorry to see that the image attracted so many idiots over on FB ...
  4. And don't forget that when you have cloud riddled nights , but clear blue days , the simple addition of a Baader AstroSolar Safety filter will give you wonderful views of the most dynamic object in the sky ... our own nearest star ...
  5. Thanks Graham , Mr P answered the question yesterday ...
  6. Welcome , the only advice I shall offer is that you edit the sixth word in your post so as to avoid unwanted replies ... 😏 Someone will be along shortly regarding the 'scope ...
  7. Baader is much better than TO if you are after fine detail either imaging-wise or for visual.
  8. Another stunner sir ... What's the dark nebula with 'eyes' in the top-right corner ? , it reminded me immediately of the Black rabbit from Watership Down .
  9. I hope to be watching in Tunisia , was thinking of Luxor but I fear it will be a little overcrowded .
  10. The very narrow footprint would/does concern me , it would appear from the photo that adding a mount then a 'scope would put the COG outside the footprint making for an accident waiting to happen.
  11. It's here .... https://arxiv.org/pdf/2312.05292.pdf
  12. Nice capture . But might I refer you to the Terms and Conditions ..... 13. It can catch you out waiting at traffic lights too if the car in the off-side lane creeps forward a touch making it seem that you are rolling backwards.
  14. Please save the image as a JPEG or PNG file , this way the image will be automatically displayed and members won't have to download it just to see it ... ta very much.
  15. For a wealth of information for beginners I'd highly recommend the "Astronomy and Nature TV" channel. https://www.youtube.com/@RocketPlanet/videos
  16. You'd be better off shooting a hundred or so single RAW frames than using the very compressed video output from the 550D , it's just the Liveview stream captured as a series of small JPEGS.
  17. I used a 14' tall pier at my old address to get 365 days of solar imaging back in the day (2012-2015) Simply a 100mm x 100mm timber post sat on the patio and braced against the brick wall , it was a bit of an adventure dragging the HEQ5 Pro and Tal100rs up a ladder but it got me 311/365 so well worth the effort as most folk give up around this time of year.

  19. Save yourselves the anguish and use the "Oculars" plugin in Stellarium ... 😏
