  1. That'd be an "Americanism" pure and simple , I'm sure they mispronounce our language just for the hell of it ... 😄
  2. You just need to download "JHelioviewer" and you can access all of NASA's historical SDO data and make your own videos from it ... 😉
  3. A little more info would be handy , i.e. camera make and model. Presuming you're talking about previewing images you've just shot on the camera ... ? When you zoom in to 10x you have to scroll around with the navigation button to find small details. The info will be in the instruction book.
  4. Well as it's somebody's name I think that's rather petty and schoolyard-like , how would you like folk to start referring to something related to you as Jabba or Neddie rather than your real name ... 😄
  5. Thick grey blanket to shoot through today so just glad to have caught something ...
  6. I wasted ten minutes this morning trying to figure why the view was all fuzzy and washed out with a bright clear sky ... ? Nice coat of condensation on both the Barlow and the objective (both hidden by filters) will do it after a frosty night ... hairdryer to the rescue ...
  7. Welcome back to it mate , much the same feeling here after a six month hiatus ... 😉
  8. Quick grab in the fleeting blue patches.
  9. https://nso.edu/blog/nso-team-works-on-historical-sunspot-digitization/
  10. Not sure historically , I'll have to have a Google. The biggest I've had the pleasure of witnessing was back in October of 2014 ... 😲
  11. Great catch sir ... 😀 Just needs a L-R flip ... 😉
  12. Long wait for the fog to lift meant no time for any close-ups today ( Six Nations beckons ... )
  13. The three X Class flares it's chucked out so far ... ! "Courtesy of NASA/SDO and the AIA, EVE, and HMI science teams." latest_1024_0304.mp4
  14. And extremely active too , it's chucked off an X 1.7 , X 1.9 and an X 6.3 so far .... !!!
  15. Had an unscheduled patch of blue first thing so jumped on it to get a shot of the 'big'un' ... 😊
  16. It's not something simple such as the focus lock screw being tightened which you've forgotten to loosen ?
  17. That's where I'm aiming for too ... 😉
  18. Back again ... been a while ... Had to remove a few cobwebs from the rig and struggle through the mist but happy to have got back in the saddle after a break of seven months ... 😊 SW Evostar 150 + Canon 6D + Baader ND3.8 + Oiii.
  19. So why restrict the 1000x potential to such limited use , surely it'd be used on everything especially planets , a little far-fetched would be my continuing belief. Anyone else using 1000x mag out there , I'm intrigued now.
  20. And exactly what EP is employed in a 100mm 'scope to give perfect views at 1000x magnification ... ? A magic 0.74mm TV of some description ... ?
  21. Lovely capture there ... So sorry to see that the image attracted so many idiots over on FB ...
