  1. Gradient Tool not gradient merge. It’s quite easy to use. Drag one image on top of the other and then add a layer mask. Then with the Gradient Tool drag a line from one edge to the other, from where you want to begin revealing one image to the other darker side, and that’s it. If it’s not quite right, undo it & try again. It works well on images when one side or top of the image needs to be a different exposure to the other.
  2. Thanks James. I used the gradient tool in photoshop elements. It’s about the only thing I know how to do in photoshop That’s why the sky is darker to the right of the moon when you’d expect it to be brighter.
  3. This is two images combined a 1/60 and 2 second image ISO 400 using the baby Tak and canon 450. I'm not sure if I've caught a couple of stars as well but I think they're in the correct place for Chlosinde & Tatjana?
  4. This is an HDR composite of two images taken at 1/4 & 1/30 second ISO 100. processed in Pixinsight. I wanted to try and retain the brightness of the sky without over exposing the moon. I find HDR processing quite difficult usually but this isn't too bad. I used the camera colour balance.
  5. That’s a lovely image. The pastel colours make a great background.
  6. Don’t know if this is justified but I’d be worried about a strong wind catching the telegizmo cover.
  7. This is probably obvious to everyone else but by unguided does it mean untracked or tracked without a guide camera?
  8. Lovely images. The coloured craters seem to bring them to life.
  9. Emil, you’re lovely Luna eclipse image reminded me of another I took with it.
  10. I use this fine focuser, it’s very helpful, if not a bit fiddly to put on. http://www.astrokraken.fr/samyang-135mm-f-2-bracket-micro-focuser-a145773756 Edit just noticed he does a hinged ring version which looks better http://www.astrokraken.fr/micro-focuser-with-hinged-rings-for-dslr-telephoto-lens-a145773206
  11. I have a few process icons I load automatically. A couple with some noise reduction settings (which I use the most) and one I use to darken the background of an image if needed.
  12. I don't know either but there's some information on options here that includes some discussion about using batteries in mobile scenarios. I only mentioned them because if it would work theyd be a good compact portable option. https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/how-to-power-a-project/all
  13. Would four AA batteries in a battery holder work, that gives 6 volts? I use eight to power my Astro Devices Nexus.
  14. Ah, I wonder if it’ll be cloudy when the moons out and clear when it isn’t this month
  15. Yes great write up. Me to, Serge has phoned me a couple of times in the past as well. Excellent service.
  16. I’d be surprised a piece of white cloth attached to the front of the lens with an elastic band would be in focus, and anything beyond it wouldn’t be either?
  17. I use a photo of a white piece of Paper on my IPad. I put a white cloth over the lens. So you could also use a similar method with a large flat screen TV. I can view my Images stored on my iPad on the TV so I could also view the Image of my white piece of paper on the TV. The only snag is the camera wouldn’t be at the same orientation as the lights, but you could ensure everything else is the same. I’d guess the screen would be large enough to fully illuminate the 10mm lens. It’s an idea anyway?
  18. If you upload your image to here it will identify most things for you. http://nova.astrometry.net/upload I had to download your image so it hasn’t picked up as much as an original. It’s free, reasonably quick and very useful
  19. In the first I think you’ve just caught the Andromeda Galaxy. It’s a tiny smudge just above & to the right of the 3 vertical stars in Andromeda. You need to zoom in on your image, not the astrometry version.
