  1. I didn't find anodising expensive - just fiddly! Still have the kit but haven't used it for years. Tend to use 3D printed plastic more than aluminium these days.
  2. The physics/maths is easy enough. At least to an engineer familiar with the physics and maths concerned 🤣
  3. A bed weight of several KG would be better supported on 3 threaded rods I reckon and guided with metal wheels on two 20mm x 20mm V-Slot extrusion rails.
  4. Errrrr... that's quite a big scope! 🤣
  5. Yes, very good - like it.
  6. My block was something like 600mm cube or a bit less with integral pier, poured in one go (took all day) and it's solid as a rock - oh - it is a rock, effectively!!
  7. I've ordered a smaller acrylic dome (80mm) which I think will be easier to fit. I also have a more suitable waterblock for the cooling. With the possibility of DSO imaging seemingly improving I could do with the ASC back in action.
  8. My brain's too old for that!! 🤣 Actually, I've seen it before.
  9. I sometimes say that when in my observatory 🤣 I would quite liked to have built a telescope from scratch and even looked into it at one stage, including M-o-M but really would have needed to start it at an earlier age!
  10. The point is a Luminance filter lets a lot more light through than a 3nm NB filter. This makes a big difference.
  11. I hadn't seen it but not sure of it's significance to NB imaging as their tests are with L filter.
  12. Did an assessment of settings last night. Unfortunately, cloud rolled in closely followed by rain before I could take a set of lights. With several tests I found that a gain of 180 and exposure of 120s resulted in Alnitak just reaching white level. The diffraction patterns around the brighter stars had gone.
  13. Yes, they're the ones. I use them too and recommend them highly.
  14. I had two of those (not at the same time). When the first disintegrated I bought a second. Then that disintegrated so decided to built my own.
  15. I've decided against having the wind instruments on the same mast as the ASC due to the possibility of the extra windage upsetting the ASC image. Anyway, I'd like to keep the two projects separate. I have another mast position on the south side of the warm room that I initially used for the ASC.
  16. Probably not the final version though. I'm thinking of going over to RPi.
  17. This is mine - Arduino Based weather Station.
  18. I thought you were making your own.
  19. There a spray on waterproofer I used but can't remember what it's called. Don't know where it is either.
  20. What sort of sensor are you using for the wind vane?
  21. Gain is something I'm not sure of. It would seem that reducing the gain would mean increasing the total integration time to get the same result regarding faint nebulosity but I'm not sure this is true. I just haven't had the clear night skies to do enough testing.
  22. One of the best subs with STF applied. Firstly a screenshot of the PI screen then a PNG format of the full size, full resolution image (13.4MB). Or did you want the XISF format (32.8MB)?
  23. No I save on an SSD in my indoor desktop running Mint. I move files off that onto a hard drive every so often to make space. I still have 200odd GB free on the HD. I'll sort out a single sub...
