M51-L-RGB (CLS) Final image

A nice clear night allowed me to catch another 20 @ 600 seconds of Luminance to bring down the noise and finish this image. :smiley:

Shot over the last week from light pouted Swindon with no Ha data. :cool:

L = 47 @ 600 seconds

R = 3 @ 1500 seconds

G = 7 @ 600 seconds

B = 5 @ 864 seconds

The RGB sub lengths were determined by G2V calibration Details HERE

All subs were taken through a CLS LP filter attached to the imaging train between the CCD and filter wheel.

This is my first complete image using my new SXVFH9 CCD

Shot through my 10" newt, TS OAG, DMK21 (guide cam) and EQ6.

Thanks for looking.

Mike.

From a visual appreciation point of view M51 has always been a favourite of mine.

Can't remember if I have ever seen it visually. I have certainly never imaged it for sure.

I just can't believe what is now possible with amateur equipment. I've never been an imager but may have a fiddle if/when I get that new scope I'm promising myself. But there really is no rush on my part.

With images like this Mike, what could I possibly bring to the table? :)

Stunning....

Your M51.

it's not a competition, its about catching the photons that hit your scope and saying I did that.

Go for it it's very rewarding.

Here is one of my first images of M51
