Owl Nebula (M97) and Galaxy M108

Clear all night last night!

My alignment wasn't great so I was limited to 2 minutes, but that seemed enough for this nice pair... Few little fuzzies if you look hard too

Nikon D70 ISO-800

Vixen GP unguided

57x2m, 40 darks, flat+bias

Had some trouble with the flats; I took them using the twilight sky but they introduced a green-red colour gradient. Maybe they were underexposed?

Couple of versions...

Second is noisier, but brighter and I think the galaxy looks better:

Well done. I did M97 last night too for the first time. If I'd been clever though I could have got M108 in as you did. Next time...

Thanks guys. I'm knackered today having had very little sleep so I'm glad it's been worth it!

I'm amazed at just how green the owl is in colour. (I barely touched the saturation slider!)
