MartinB
Wonderful Kai, what an improvement. Don't know if you've sorted the combine out yet Kai but here's on way to do it in photoshop. Bring up both images and select the iso 200 image. Select either the polygon or the freehand lassoo tool and a feather of around 10. Select the core. Ctrl C to copy. Select the brighter image and press ctrl v to paste. Bring up the layers window. The selected core should be in layer1. In the layers window you can select the blenc mode, choose "difference" so it is easy to see how things line up. Select "move" from top right in the tools palette and move the core into position. It helps to zoom in and use the arrow keys to make fine adjustments. If the core is rotated in relation to the background select free transform/rotate from the edit menu. Expand the canvas a little and place the cursor at a corner just outside the image and turn it round. Selecting another tool will confirm selection. Change the blend mode to "normal" . You can make tweaks to the core layer using levels and curves if you want to. Then flatten image from the layers menu. Job done. There is a fancier way using the colour select tool but the above method works fine.Tbh Kai the core isn't that burnt out
