M42 Core - is this wrong?

Been playing with some M42 pics in PI, and one of my results came out like this. Is this 'wrong' for the core?

Looks fine, except the trapezium is not there clearly, although you can see where it goes.

Well I'm impressed. The details in M43 look natural to me so not overdone to my eye.

I'd say this was extremely good and not often bettered.

Well fwiw here's the whole image. It's the same stack I originally posted here but this time done in Raw and in PI rather than DSS. Jpeg-ing hasn't helped with the fine detail but I guess I'm stuck with that. The 2nd image has had some more 'treatment' (a la Ken Crawford) but not sure it's an improvement. The 3rd image is the image just after stacking in PI, with an auto STF applied.

What a refreshing change to see the raw stack with all the background glow and gradients. It really puts the processing into perspective, to see the "before" and "after".

I wish more people would do the same :-)

Very good detail in the core. It's so easy to burn out while chasing detail in the fainter 'arms' of M42.

bunnygod1: My other earlier posting was incorrect, it's actually 9 images, 25s @ISO 1600 (not 800). Darks & Bias only, 10 each.

not that i am an expert! but it looks a really nice image, good balance between the core and the subtle arm region.how did it look before you applied the darks & bias?

Well the individual images are calibrated with the dark/bias before stacking, but one of the uncalibrated images with a stretch looks like this -
