Welcome to the forum and I for one like drivel so no worries. There is genuinely a lot of expertise here no matter what the subject area. My advice would be (in addition to all of the above) and that is to take your time finding out what you really need for what you want to do. No need to rush the stars aren't going anywhere!

I too had a Tasco, bought from Argos several years ago.

Whilst it was great for observing the moon everything else was just white dots or blobs, so I am hoping to find a scope that can see DSO's and can stick on some sort of camera for a start in astrophotography
