No what you need is a 30 foot tube

so I can have the offcut to get my 8" f12 mirror up and running

I'm not joking if you know of a bit of 10 to 12 inch tube about 12 foot long give me a yell

Obviously, you get an 18' tube and cut a foot off. This will mean it has to hop about, but it will solve your problem. I would suggest building a wooden tripod from scratch (seriously.) A mount would probably be your biggest problem although an alt-az mount would make things easer and cheaper. you are going to need a stepladder to get to the ep if you are viewing anything close to the horizon.

Actually, thinking about it, I bet Beacon Hill Telescopes would be able to supply the tube.
