Partial Solar Eclipse 15 Jan 2010

Well today is the weekend here in Bahrain and todays partial eclipse began at about 08:15 local. Just for a change I am all set up and ready!

I hope to get some good pictures over the next couple of hours.

It is well under way now and sunspot group 1040 is also well placed........ awesome!

Just been watching it on Stellarium. Plenty of sunspots to be seen on the Sun.

You are obvoiusly in the best place to see the partial solar eclipse

Great Picture from hand held camera.

glad you can see the sun, I got a lunt solar scope just before Christmas, only seen the sun four times since then.

Hello Ivor, yes it is a good place to observe the sun, 25c today and it is the middle of winter!!

ps. sorry I have not sent the ETX mounting hardware (Christmas and all that), will send it this week.

Great images. The sunspots are the icing on the cake. Stellarium showed a lot more sunspots on the surface then your images captured. It makes me wonder if Stellarium really is a "real time" program at all.
