barkis
That's one hell of a good sketch Mick. I didn't know you were one the Illustrious band of pencil wizards on SGL. Ron.
DarkerSky
That's a real peach of a sketch..!! Beautiful. I've yet to see M81 and M82 in my LB. So many sights...so little time ! Wonderful to get them with such clarity in the same fov

stefski
Lovely sketch, Mick. It's a great view of M81 in particular! I never see that much of the halo from my location. Do you have really dark skies?Stef

Doc
This was taken according to my notes with a sky about mag 4.5 so not really dark, but it was very clear.Galaxies like M81/82, M31 and M64 really do pop out from the background with 16" of aperture. Also the more you stare at an object the brighter it seems to get and the more detail starts to emerge.
johnh
I don't look at you sketchers much but that does remind me of what the visuals looked like years ago and to get it in one eyepiece too. JohnH.
