Hi All! I've been reading this forum for months, and thought I really should say Hi!

I've been interested in Astronomy, Space and all things Extraterrestrial since I was young, and bought a 2nd hand Meade LX90 8" SCT earlier this year after many years away from owning any kind of scope or bins, so I'm now getting back into looking up!

Very keen on getting into astrophotography and got the gizmos to connect my unmodded DSLR (Canon 400d) and webcam (SPC900NC) to the scope with minor to medium success so far with fairly bright Messier objects in mildly light polluted skies (High Wycombe, Bucks). I've already pilfered some tips from here on improving my imaging tactics!

I'm also halfway through my Open Uni course to get a qualification in Astronomy just to add it to my business cards :)

Hopefully I will find the time to actively participate on the message boards and join the SGL Community proper (rather than just read up on all the tips and advice!)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Hopefully I will get some of my fuzzy images up on here soon! I've setup tonight but not too hopeful as the clear skies are getting regularly interupted by clouds hence online here ;-)

Hi Paul, welcome to SGL from a fellow recently-joined member!

Your set-up sounds great - looking forward to seeing your images.

I'm due to start my Astronomy qualification in October, which is a bit scary considering I've been out of education for over a decade. As you're now halfway through your qualification I wondered if you had any tips? :-)

Cheers,

Adrian
