JWST NGC 6822 image

Take a look at this image, the 2001: a Space Odyssey quote from David Bowman was all I could think of,  "My God, it's full of stars!"

That’s a lot of stars. Where is it?

It’s a close up of NGC 6822, Barnard’s Galaxy in Sagittarius.

Astronaut Bowman was correct!

If I had taken that image, my first thought would be that my sensor was borked!

It is difficult to work out what's going on, but I guess running it through Starnet or some such would leave a bland image!

It makes more sense (or at least, it's easier to see what's going on) if you use this ESA slider image that shows both the NIRCam image (as above) and the MIRI image.

Amazing, but the Hubble has already left my brain like guacamole!

The image they took with the Hubble of a small area of the sky, that here on Earth shows not a single star, which when processed show uncountable galaxies as far as you could see, finished me off!

What is out the in the universe is unimaginable!
