My Jupiter double transit at BBC Sky at Night magazine

I never thought that my planetary images are on the same level of serious imagers but I was super excited to get hold of the current issue of Sky at Night, albeit the Instagram section, with my Jupiter image I captured back in October and posted here. It's great to see it in print. All the help I have got from this forum is amazing.

Bet the tracking of that would have been a bit easier than the ISS!  Cracking pic.  Do they contact you before or do you just find out when it is published?

Thanks. Indeed, iss has helped with planetary a lot as they move at a snail's pace 🤣. Yes they did contact me in advance. I knew it was coming but seeing it in print is quite nice.

Congratulations Kostas, that's brilliant and very well deserved - whatever is your main interest in this hobby, you ARE a serious imager and seriously good at it too...👏

Thanks Geof. You are very kind. I have really enjoyed my first year of serious planetary imaging. The other part of the hobby that really excites me is observing nebulas (not imaging), but a bit neglected in recent months due to the planets.

I keep telling myself that I like observing, which is all that I did until I took early retirement over 10 years ago and got into AP. Nowadays, all I seem to do is take images, with planetary work my clear favourite. I did buy myself a pair of 22x85 binos and parallelogram mount a few years ago, so that I could do some wide field observing whilst the main rig is taking DSO pictures.
