I might have 4 hours

tomorrow night to image ... question is this.

Using AZ-GTI in EQ mode ... Canon 80D and 500mm (sigma 150-600) bortle 7

a. 4 hours imaging M109

b. 4 hours imaging M100

c. 2 hours on each.

What would you do ??

Its also pretty much a full moon, so I will be using an Ha filter most probably.. M100 will be close (too close for my liking) to the moon, M109 better... but it's going to be a very bright sky after about 10 pm me thinks..

Use moonlit nights for practice, fine tuning, tweaking your set up, etc, or.....image the moon.

Don’t waste a clear night of imaging just because the moon is up. Sure the subs will not be great, but they will be much better than nothing.

Use telescopius (or equivalent) to help find decent targets that are as far away from the moon as possible. That said, I've had little success with galaxies under full moon - whereas ha targets 40 degrees+ away from the moon look better. 

Definitely 4 hours. I can't remember ever regretting more data on a single target whereas I routinely get rubbish data because I get too optimisitc!

Definitely 4 hours as a minimum. If you have not already done it, have you thought about M106? It is a bit brighter and larger than M109 so might be better.

Yes I have done M106 , and that's quite close to 109 ...
