Some interesting Solar activity in Ha - 22/10/2020

If you have chance have a look at the Sun in Ha. Using my PST + DS there is a v.large Prom coming off the SE side. Added to this you have AR2776 with some plage.

Yes frustrating Peter. I saw this Prom on Gong yesterday and hoped it would be still be around this morning. I hope you get a clear spell at some stage.

Large sunspot right now. Umbra and penumbra clearly visible. First I've seen in ages! Lunt solar wedge, SC filter and Evo150 stopped down to 100mm.

It certainly was. Grabbed half an hour over lunchtime and was glad I did.

Wonderful prom, here's my smartphone shot, hand held, yesterday. Daystar Quark...the prom has dissipated today, not nearly as impressive.

Spotted the big AR and the prom just now, along with a long filament and separate bright plage area on the northern hemisphere (another AR developing). The big AR in the south is putting on quite a show, with a quite a bit of bright plage and dark whorls showing around the sunspots.
