M51 - Whirlpool Galaxy...

I thought I would try the 2x barlow on the AP 102ED, and give the Whirlpool a go. Couldn't sleep that morning, and so worked whilst the scope imaged until 4am :hello2:

This is 12 x 10 minute subs with the SXV-H9 with no filters. I think this would really be a good candidate for an excellant seeing night, but we all know how few and far between those are at the moment! This was the best focus I could achieve :D

Lots of detail there, well worth showing: as you say better seeing and you'd have a cracker! Perhaps you could have a go at the vignetting that shows up on my monitor? Are you still without functioning filters? A little bit of colour would be nice here!

Think you caught another galaxy as well, just above center left?

The fuzzy above NGC 5195 is IC 4278, and the edge-on to 10 o'clock of NGC 5195 is IC 4277. Presumably these are both background galaxies, not part of the M51-NGC5195 system, but can't be sure. Well captured!
