New attendee hints and tips

Evening all,

As this is going to be my first star party I was seeking any hints and tips from the seasoned veterans. 

Things like how to light proof a caravan, do you leave your scope set up during the day and what is there to do during the day?

Depends how far you want to go with lighting. all mine have red film shielding them.

Set up scope when I get there then cover it to keep it dry 

Loads to do during the day, starting with large breakfast in café and lot's of other entertainment all day, hog roast, curry an quiz night.

Unless you intend to keep moving it in and out of your van every night, a good waterproof cover for your scope is an essential.  Many people cover them with a toilet/utility tent.

Is there a program of events with times? Talks, exhibitions, food etc. It would appear that the Saturday I have booked also clashes with my an event my mother in law has booked with my other half. We've come to a compromise where I can still come, regardless of weather, but I probably wont get to Lucksall until after 4pm.🤔

Unfortunately due to heavy rain and flooding this year's SGL Star Party is cancelled 🙁
