2/1/18 Sunspots!

Rusted

Recommended Posts

A chain of 5 small dark sunspots is visible in white light.

About 8 o'clock 1/3 way out from Sun's center in inverted image.

A much larger area shows as a pale patch in H-alpha.

Prominences at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock in H-a.

Solar Continuum white light filtered image added. Reversed by star diagonal.

Indeed, Dave! Wall to wall sunshine here.

Frustrated that I can't share any decent images of what I'm seeing.
I'm taking afocal snaps through a 32mm EP with my TZ7 with only occasional success.
A short zoom Canon is only slightly better.

The Neximage5 covers a tiny area on the sun with my 2160mm focal length. Not ideal for solar! :crybaby2:
The images are covered in spots and marks despite a thorough cleaning of the Neximage5's sensor area.
Even the background keeps turning into a cloth type texture.
Plus I'm well out of practice with the iCap and Registax software.

Anything for a bit of warmth! I was abzo-loootely shrammed! ?
