works it does, quite impressive if that wasn't a taken from a dark site,

These wide field shots really suffer from gradients and the like

especially RGB imaging,

Nice image Chris, would be interesting to see a comparison from a dark site

Well done

Hi @toxic

This image looks really nice

As an advanced user of the Star Adventurer, I can tell you that you can easily get 7-8 minute subs with the 50mm lenses

I managed to get 8 minute sub with 75mm lenses unguided, than get guiding and thats a whole new story

Clear skies

thank you

yes i agree but i wont get more unless i go to a dark site :thumbright:

Not necessarily - you just need more exposure to get the same result compared to a dark site! You will only need longer exposures if the background sky doesn't swamp read noise (eg using narrowband).

It's still a very nice shot - huge field of view!

thanks Graeme and serbia

no NB or LP filter its an unmodified EOS 200D with the kit lens and it gets swamped after 5 minutes at home so need a dark site for longer unless i drop the iso

You might find that you can drop the ISO value if you're in the ISO invariant range for the camera - very possible that a lower value will give you the same result once stacked, stretched, etc.

I don't know where that sits for the 200d (it might be 1600?) but as an example on my old 350d, I get good results even at ISO400 - it's no better (and decreased dynamic range) at 800/1600, unless I'm after moving targets.
