2 years :(

Don't be depressed, just think of it as an extended break.

Having dabbled as a teenager, it took years (at least 10!) until I was able to get back into observing.

I then had rather a long break (several years) when the children arrived.

I've been back at it for a few years, but recently, work and life have been so busy that the late nights are just too late at the moment.

I'm hoping to get out a bit more when the clocks go back again!

Don't worry, the stars aren't going anywhere.

I do hope your circumstances change for the better soon though. :)

I used to live in a flat with a small balcony. I had a small part of the Sky and street lights almost level. It was on a hill though so the sky didn't suffer from too much murk. I observed from there for several years. I then moved 2 miles down the road to a house with fairly secluded garden but in a dip. There always seems to mist and murk in the air now from being at the bottom of the hill.  I very rarely have properly clear skies and and the general light pollution from the town is worse. Annoyingly I moved up from Wiltshire where I was used to very dark skies.
