Plenty of people from Kent here! I intend to go along to the next Orpington Astronomy club meeting, just had a look through their forum and it seems quiet active, grab and go scopes seem to be quiet popular, with plenty of talk about finding dark(ish) skies. On site near me that might be usable, but not ideal, is a disused WW2 airfield. Need to find out who owns it. Another option is Penshurst estate, they have an access road that goes pretty remote, might stand a chance getting permission if a club approaches them.
