ISS Solar Transit animation: 11th March 2015

Hi all,

The ISS did a transit of the sun here this morning (the third in a week, although I failed on the two prevous passes). Here's an animation of it. It took 0.6 seconds to cross this field of view. That's sunspot group AR2297 to top left.

250mm f/4.7 Newtonian, QHY5 cam. 8ms @ c. 25 fps

Any idea why it's a 'Z' shape? Normally, it's an 'H' shape. Is it something to do with the way the chip captures the image?

 I think its just the angle you're looking at it from - transits are usually at a low angle.

I looked back at one of mine and its a Z shape as well.
