White light or H alpha

Taken yesterday through an ed100. I thought it may be of interest to compare both images. Hydrogen alpha seeing was much worse than white light. Anybody know why ? Trevor

Odd, that. I usually find seeing a bit better in H-alpha. Nice images, and interesting comparison nonetheless

Two really nice images and great comparison. I am guessing that your Ha was taken at a higher F number leading to a longer exposure and hence the grain/noise appears to be greater?

Certainly that is the case for me.

Great pics, personally I agree with the poster above that said they think Ha is generally better to see than white light, but your photos are making me wonder....

Maybe the seeing really was worse  for the Ha image. Sometimes it goes bad for a few minutes and improves again later on.

I like the white light image a lot.

Thanks for the comments. Maybe it was just seeing or even the limitations of the mod when they are compared direct. I suppose I am pushing the PST on the ed100 objective. It improves on the original but doesn't give the crisp views I get in white light.

i normally prefer HA views, i said as soon as i saw this group it looked better in "white light" but i suppose it just looks different.

usually the seeing is worst in Calcium K, then better in WL, then better still in H alpha. On Saturday it seemed the reverse for me when the Calcium K was much better seeing than the H alpha, may be this weekend we had a very strange airflow?
