Sharpcap reticle for collimation assist?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks:

I have an sct and was wondering if using the reticle in sharpcap to make sure the 'donut' is centered in the eyepiece when collimating would be helpful?  I have not tried this yet but am curious if others use this?  Thanks

Hi Roger, have a search for "Al's Collimation Aid". Just expand the circles to the correct diameter for relevant circles on the Airey disc. It even indicates which screw to adjust to a amend the collimation. I use it with my SPC900 webcam.

I find a webcam shoved up the spout makes adjusting the secondary a doddle , you can mess about to your hearts content while monitoring exactly the effect your tinkering is having on the laptop screen.

Saves all that faffing about to and fro the EP trying to remember what moves what ...
