What I learned today about solar observing

Hi All,

Today I did a spot of solar observing with the Lunt 60 mm (three nice sun spot groups visible) and I learned a couple of things: there are more birds around during the day than at night, and that a 60 mm in diameter target may be small, but but a bird can still score a direct hit. Removing the offending item from the objective was very easy: Windex to get off the gunk then ethanol before the Windex evaporates in order to avoid smearing. Repeat as needed. Better still, don't leave your solar scope exposed when you're not using it. oops!
