Scope transport from Colchester to Bristol

Trying to find someone who travels from the Colchester to Bristol area from time to time who could pick up and deliver a 14 inch 1.6m long dob for me.

If you really get stuck, I could maybe get it from Colchester to M25 near Dartford bridge ... Maybe set you some kind of relay ... Very large baton though

I'm not far from you Mark, just the other side of the water. I often go to Thornbury Leisure Centre for the Model Engineering Exhibitions.

Oh my..I have some friends who have picked up the scope...Its too big for them to drive it over to Bristol from Colchester!!!!

They tell me its HUGE!.

So it looks like a long trip for me to collect it unless there is anyone out their who is going east to west over the next few weeks..

Oh well. Just think how those galaxies are going to look through it....

Scope now brought back from Colchester....seven and half hours round trip..

Optics looks lovely and clean as expected..great views tonight with the 24mm max vision eyepiece on a variety of targets.

Boy its big...It takes two to lift off and on the base..

Will be making some kind of trolley to get it in and out of the shed! I think some wood and some wheels and a ramp..any ideas on how best to do this cheaply appreciated.

Its going to be fun.

Good to hear you got it back safely Mark.

Making a trolley and ramp should be simple enough, it's designing a mechanism, I would imagine, to get it on and off the trolley on your own.

I'm sure a few dob owners will have some ideas.
