Orions Sword Fighting against the Full Moon

Recommended Posts

As a bit of practice with my autoguiding setup I decided to image Orions Sword with my Canon 400D on a 80mm APO fitted with a 0.8x focal reducer . The moon was washing everything out but I managed to image the running man despite the moon trying its best to hide it.

Exposure time was 503 seconds at ISO400.

Edited in CS with NC Tools.

Tried to loose some of the Moon glow but end up loosing some of the running man.

What a wonderful result considering how the moonlight must have been very invasive. As KK said, the prospects are very promising when old Selene is out of the sky.

M42 is beautifully imaged with lots of nebulosity visible.

If you look in the top middle of the image Rog reprocessed there are 3 bright stars.

If you look closely there is a nebula there and if you look even closer you can make out the dark shape of a man running.........Running Man :(
