Abell 39 Planetary Nebula

I hadn't even heard of the planetary nebula Abell 39 in Hercules until I saw it in the new Astronomy Now, so I gave it a try. It barely showed up except in OIII, so I was quite pleased to have captured it at all. OIII 14 subs, mostly 10 min, Ha 5 subs 10 and 2 min, and a couple of 10min Luminosities. Final image used OIII and lums for L, then Ha+OIII for syn R,B and synthesised green.

One of the advantages of astronomy, something can pop up that you've never heard of before. Its quite cute, if planetary nebulas could be such a thing

Gina, I used the Equinox ED80 and Atik 314L for imaging, Equinox ED66 and Atik Titan for guiding. Software - Nebulosity and PHD, and Photoshop.

Thank you Allan :) Looks like a good candidate for my MN190 and 314L+ then - image a little bit bigger. I fancy NB as a change from LRGB :)

nicely captured, i was the same and have added it to my Friday nights "to do" list. not sure that i am going have much luck imaging it with my DSLR though! 10 minute subs  light pollution will stop me doing those, did you have to do much in processing to show it?
