Tried going longer on the subs, 180 seconds and used some guiding last night. I expected to lose almost everything to the wind, but it worked out in the end.

Nikon D50, ISO 800, 6 subs Registaxed. I need to get rid of the amp glow, but otherwise I'm pleased with it.

Amp glow is the red bit creeping over the top edge. Its caused by the camera insides not really being designed for three minute exposures. The amplifier leaks something over the sensor chip, causing the glow at the edge closest to the amplifier.

Well for me it is definitely THE BEST Holmes 17 picture I've seen so far. very very nice, sharp and stunning! Very nice job. I love that hint of tail comming from the botton right part of a "snow ball"

No yawn from me KK. The image is just like I saw the comet last night - a big fuzzy snowball with a bright, elongated central core.

This is a Larson-Sekanina process of the comet which shows up some detail. The eye-like structure I think is down to dirt in the camera, rather than anything to do with the comet.

I just have to agree with all the positive comments on this one KK. It is a very clean and opulent image of the comet.

It is still an enigma this thing. Like something out of science fiction almost. How helpful would a flyby have been on this fellow hey?.
