summerstars
Have posted on here a few times so thought I'd better introduce myself! My name is Vikki, I'm 25. Having had an interest in astronomy etc since I was a child, and disappointed every xmas and birthday with no telescope (so hard done by! Lol) I have just bought my first scope. Nothing spectacular, but me and my 9 year old son are extremely excited about it. Looking forward to posting more and reading everyones advice and tips!Vikki x

tuckstar
Good luck with that, looks like cloud all the way here :-(. Nice starter scope, you will be pleasently surprised just what you can see, even with a small aperture. Wishing you clear skies.

damnut
Hi and welcome to sgl. If you have not downloaded a planetarium program yet try stellarium, its free and can be found here :-- http://www.stellarium.org/. Also try a copy of 'sky & telescope pocket star atlas' its great as a guide round the sky. Cheers

Sorry dont do apple. You'll soon get used to stellarium windows and its an excellent tool.Books wise try to get a copy of "Turn left at orion." Great little book which gives you some idea of what you will see when its all up side down and back to front, and a good sky atlas/ star charts. All the best.
