I am surrounded by buildings, with a low gap to the south.

I usually observe the messiers over a period of 6 months, 1st - Jan to mid - June, as the low ones come

past the southern gap.

Some years in early March I go out for an "all-nighter" to either Culver down (Eastern IOW) ot Boniface down (Southern) where

I can Nearly complete a messier marathon as well as looking for some previously unseen NCG/IC Objects.

Its a bit "Spotter-ish" I know, but actually good fun

Clear skies and good hunting for the remaining fuzzies

You mean M102

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Messier_102

Like it says on the artcle there, it is believe to be a duplication of M101. But there are other candidates that it may of been. I think alot of people find and record NGC 5866 to complete the 110. I will be interested in the views other people have of this.

I used NGC 5866. As I understand it, it fits the description by Paul Mechain better than M101. They are very different in appearance.
