Solar Sunday - 27th January

Sunday dawned unusually of late with clear skies for me, commitments meant I could only squeeze an hour or so observing in when the sun was only ~10deg altitude, however one has to make the most of opportunities no matter how fleeting.

First of the CaK full disk taken with the 70mm @ f6 with the DMK31. Really too much aperture and too poor seeing for such a low altitude sun, but its just about come out ok...

Moving onto the 70mm with the Ha filter in, I decided to run it with the 2x barlow whcih gives me ~ 1000mm fl. There is alot going on, it's just all small scale stuff...

It's not very often I get so many observations in january, so i've been pleased with what this month has given me!

Hope the sun is shining for you!

Mark :)

Thanks guys! Appreciate your kind words! :)

It's good the sun is getting higher in the sky, means weather permitting I can get a good couple of hours in on a weekend now, will soon be able to observe on evenings after work too...

I know not best to buy too much into weather forecasts, but they are suggesting pressure could be higher next weekend, which must have some chances of clear skies, fingers crossed! :)

Thank you! :)

i didn't realise there was a solar imaging section, I will make sure I use it now...

Here's a few more from sunday, they didn't come out well first time I processed, but then reprocessed using a smaller percentage of the stack and hey presto all is rosy again...

First off some CaK, 70mm f12.
